Rob Earnshaw

Welcome to UK-Democrat.co.uk

I am a firm believer in the power of democracy and the strength it gains from embracing diverse perspectives.

This platform serves as a space for open dialogue and meaningful conversations on the crucial issues that shape our society.

With a liberal perspective, I aim to shed light on current affairs, their impact on our lives, and articulate my thoughts on how we can tackle these challenges.

A Bit About Me

I'm Rob Earnshaw, and my journey began in the creative and digital media sector, where I was proud to earn full BAFTA membership in recognition of my work. But beyond professional achievements, what truly drives me is a deep-rooted passion for politics and an unshakeable belief in democratic values.

In 2008, at just 17 years old, I launched my first venture — and never looked back. With nothing but determination and a desire to make a difference, I went on to build multiple organisations from scratch. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most influential figures in the creative, digital, business, and political worlds.

Politics isn’t just something I care about — it’s part of who I am. I’ve served on advisory groups including the DCMS Women in Tech board and the DCLG Task Group for the Digital High Street, always focused on opening doors, championing diversity, and creating opportunity for all.

Closer to home, I live in Northumberland, where I’m raising my four-year-old son and playing rugby at my local club, Tynedale RFC. Supporting my community — both on the pitch and off — is a big part of who I am.

Like many others, I experienced the real impact of the pandemic — including the heartbreak of watching my business collapse during Covid. That experience didn’t just challenge me — it changed me. It gave me first-hand insight into how fragile support for small businesses and working families can be. And it made me more determined than ever to fight for a political system that actually stands by people when they need it most.

I’ve also worked with the North East LEP Board, helping shape business support and apprenticeship programmes — initiatives I’m proud to have contributed to. Building better foundations for young talent and small enterprises is something I’ll always believe in.

That same belief in the power of people and ideas led me to create UK-Democrat.co.uk — a space dedicated to liberal values, open dialogue, and genuine political engagement. It’s not just a website; it’s a platform for democracy done better.

I believe at the heart of a prosperous society are three essential pillars: health, education, and safety.

As Liberal Democrats, we believe government has a critical role to play — supporting wellbeing, enabling potential, and protecting freedom. These pillars are not just policy areas; they are the foundation of a society where everyone can thrive. That is the society I believe in, and that is the change we must work for — a Britain where every individual has the freedom to pursue their ambitions and live a life of dignity, opportunity, and security.

Below, you’ll find a deeper look at the values and beliefs that guide my work, my politics, and my vision for a better future.
